Beefcake
Beefcake
Beefcake teeter totters between the extremes. At one moment, the duo tickles eardrums with sugary-sweet melodies; the other gallons of distortion and crashing cymbals fill every corner of the recording.

The performances on Mothers Raised You Better are raw and unhinged. The unfiltered energy radiates through each track. With sudden tempo shifts and stop/start arrangements, the album feels more like the ideal basement show with impeccable sound and minimal moshing.

Amidst the chaos and candy are Daryn Copeland's vocals and lyrics riding atop the noise. Copeland's words are honest, piercing and enticing. Every track on the album reads like a reflection on identity, relationships and personal growth while remaining genuine to themselves.

The album cover is a school ID card found by the band. Much like this strangely familiar piece of plastic, the album keeps in mind the roots and past of an individual while finding identity as an adult. With a few chords, shuffling drums and Copeland's confessional lyrics, Mothers Raised You Better is a cathartic, unapologetic gem of an album.
