eTown: Blues Traveler
with Ruthie Foster
Event Information
On February 26, eTown hosts Nick and Helen Forster welcome back legendary Rock group Blues Traveler, for the band’s first stop in eTown in nine years. Best known for front man John Popper’s unique voice and virtuosic harmonica playing, Blues Traveler found its humble beginnings as a high school garage band in Princeton, New Jersey. In 1987, the young quartet named itself Blues Traveler, moved to New York City and quickly began making waves across the country with its unique blend of Blues, Folk and Rock music. Throughout its 25 years, the band has straddled the line between underground workhorse and pop success, landing chart-topping songs and albums while maintaining an intimate relationship with its fans and an independent spirit that has kept the band alive through various changes in the record industry and the loss of its original bass player, Bobby Sheehan, in 1999.
Blues Traveler makes its second stop in eTown on the heals of its brand new, retrospective album entitled 25. The evening will afford attendees the opportunity for an up-close-and-personal peek into the band’s personality through interviews and conversation not offered at a typical concert. In addition to lots of great music and conversation, the event will also feature a special E-Chievement Award story, a trademark staple of each and every eTown taping, highlighting one of the show’s listeners who has gone above and beyond to make a positive difference in their community.
