JUNO WHAT?!
Mr. Anonymous
Juno What?! is America’s newest contribution to the late 70's/early 80's-inspired, high energy, funk-disco, synth bass, electronica genre. A rising star in their field, Juno What?! is bringing their illuminated madness to every venue upon which they descend. Catalyzing dancefloors into sonic landscapes, Juno What?! is poised to take stages around the country to sternum bump its prey. A sound that is ahead of its time yet is steeped in a foundation of electro 80’s dance grooves with a healthy dose of progressive, booty-shaking themes. This is a force to be reckoned with. Featuring members of The Motet (Joey Porter: keyboards & talk box, Dave Watts: drums and samples), these accomplished musicians have gathered their collective talents and musical prowess to focus on this mission of making the world a better place.......to dance!

In the fall of 2003, warning signals were coming from Kingston, Jamaica....warnings of a musical, dancehall movement calling for new experimentation. Mr. Anonymous, who was at the time on hiatus in the United States, quickly descended on the aforementioned locale to investigate. Armed with an acoustic guitar, “echo box”, and megaphone, his base was quickly set up at the famed Liguanea Club in Kingston where James Bond’s “Dr. No” was filmed. Contact was made with several key informants including Sly & Robbie, Ranking Roger and Dave Wakeling of The English Beat organization, Ranking Jr. of Birmingham, England, and Mega Banton and Pinchers - both from Kingston. In addition, liaisons were established with key underground agents including Brando, Afrobot, and a West African informer under the alias of Boubacar. After making contact, studios were secured and the mission commenced. The meeting of guitar driven psychedelia with dancehall machine gun fire was born!!! The parameters for the mission were as follows: All instruments including live drums, bass, moog, electric and acoustic guitars, synthesizers, percussion, and megaphone were to be performed by Mr. Anonymous. All music was to be original compositions written by the aforementioned “Mr. A”. Informant vocal performances were captured all ad lib: there was to be no rehearsing or pre-writing of lyrics. The essence of each session was to capture freeform raw energy and spontanaeity. The majority of performances were delivered freestyle. Thus the blueprint for the Mr. Anonymous phenomenon. Completing the mission was a liaison with 21 Dread, who was in charge of mixing and shaping the final sound. Contributing his own original beats to several grooves as well as manning the controls into the extremes of the dub world, this link proved to be nothing less than magic. Like the title of a song, from “Senegal to Jupiter” (by way of Kingston and London), “Mr. Anonymous 2” is a meeting of guitar driven electro psychedelic with dub dancehall machine gun fire.
